CSP's Boyce and UIndy's Wagner garner lacrosse weekly awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Week 7 GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2019 season. Concordia-St. Paul junior Alina Boyce was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Indianapols senior Lauren Wagner was named Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alina Boyce - Concordia St. Paul

Concordia-St. Paul junior Alina Boyce (Minnetonka, Minn.) delivered a seven point performance in the Golden Bears' 20-11 road win at Northern Michigan on Wednesday. The seven points is one shy of her career best, which came at NMU last season and helped her set career highs in season goals (36) and points (46) with four regular season games to go. She scored four goals and tied her career high by assisting on three others. She had a goal and two assists to key an 8-2 first half scoring run to open up a 9-4 lead en route to the win. The three year starter is now third in GLIAC play with 27 goals in CSP's seven league games.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lauren Wagner - Indianapolis

Senior defense Lauren Wagner (Upper Arlington, Ohio) limited GLIAC leading scorer Sofia Michael to zero shots as the Greyhound defense locked in for a 23-1 victory in its final home contest of the regular season. As a unit, UIndy allowed just five shots on goal, with the Ashland score coming more than 47 minutes into the game. The Hounds forced 19 turnovers, while limiting the Eagles to 6-of-21 on the clear. Wagner also tallied her first career goal in the victory.
