Davenport Sweeps Women's Lacrosse Week 1 honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the first GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2020 season. Davenport claimed both honors as senior attacker Ryann Deuel was named Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore teammate Christine Steffes earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ryann Deuel,  Davenport

Davenport senior attacker Ryann Deuel (Rockford, Mich.) was a steady force offensively over three games last week. She accounted for 13 goals and three assists for a total of 16 points. In addition, Deuel recorded 26 draw controls, including 10 or more against Colorado State University-Pueblo and Lewis University. She currently is tied for the most points in the GLIAC, has the most goals with 19, and the most draw controls by a landslide.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Christine Steffes, Davenport

Davenport sophomore defender Christine Steffes (Farmington, Minn.) was a menace on defense. Steffes caused eight total turnovers and scooped up 11 ground balls. Her eight ground balls against Colorado State University-Pueblo are tied for seventh-most in a single game in DU history, while her five caused turnovers in the same game are good for ninth-most in a single game in DU history. She leads the GLIAC in caused turnovers with 10 total.
