GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the second GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2020 season. Grand Valley St. garnered both weekly honors as senior attacker Abbi O'Neal was named Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman teammate Audrey Maloney earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Abbi O'Neal, Grand Valley St.
Abbi O'Neal led the Lakers to a 2-0 record for the week of March 2-8. The GVSU senior recorded seven goals and one assist in the Laker victory over then-ranked No. 3, Lindenwood. In Thursday's road win against Maryville, O'Neal found the back of the net five times and won nine draw controls.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Audrey Maloney, Grand Valley St.
Audrey Maloney defended the Laker net in victories over two formerly undefeated teams, No. 3 Lindenwood and Maryville. The freshman goalkeeper recorded eight saves and allowed 10 goals in 87 minutes of play.
