Davenport's Miller, Grand Valley State's Maloney Earn Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the eighth GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2021 season. Davenport junior attacker Aaliyah Miller was selected Offensive Player of the Week, while Grand Valley St. sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Maloney was named Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Aaliyah Miller, Davenport

For the second time this season, Davenport's junior attacker Aaliyah Miller has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. The honor comes after Miller led the Panthers to a pair of dominant wins over Northern Michigan (18-4 & 21-5) with a combined 11 goals, five assists, 15 shots, 13 of which were on goal, six ground balls, and three caused turnovers. This marks the fifth weekly honor for Davenport this season and 10th overall since joining the GLIAC prior to the 2018 season, which includes an even split of five on defense and five on offense.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Audrey Maloney, Grand Valley St.

Goalkeeper Audrey Maloney finished the weekend with a record of 2-1, completing the sweep against Ashland and narrowly dropping to No. 21 Roberts Wesleyan on Thursday.  The Laker sophomore blocked 11 shot attempts and posted a .478 save percentage in the 12-9 loss to the Redhawks.  The weekend series win over the Eagles saw Maloney allow just four total goals and record 11 saves to help GVSU earn their 10th win of 2021.  This is the first time this season and second time in her career that Maloney has earned the GLIAC Defensive mention.
