Concordia-St. Paul's Moynihan and Seifert earn women's lacrosse weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the second GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2022 season. Concordia-St. Paul claimed both honors as sophomore Molly Moynihan was honored as Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Maddy Seifert was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Molly Moynihan, Concordia-St. Paul

Fourth year sophomore Molly Moynihan (Apple Valley, Minn.) led Concordia-St. Paul to a pair of wins over GLVC opponents over the weekend with 10 points, scoring four goals and handing out six assists. In Friday's win over Missouri Western, she put in a pair of goals and an assist in a 13-8 victory over the Griffons. She followed it up with arguably the strongest game of her career in a 19-8 win over Rockhurst, registering a career-high seven points while tying her own school record for assists in a game with five. On the young season, Moynihan is third in the country with 12 assists, fourth in the country with 25 points and 22nd in the nation with 13 goals in leading CSP to a 4-2 start to the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Maddy Seifert, Concordia-St. Paul

True freshman Maddy Siefert (Hutchinson, Minn.) had a strong all-around weekend in helping the Golden Bears win a pair of games over GLVC opposition, leading the club with eight caused turnovers and eight ground balls while pitching in a team-high seven goals on the offensive end. In Friday's 13-8 win over Missouri Western, she produced a pair of caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls while chipping in a pair of goals. On Sunday, she led the Golden Bear back line with career-highs of six caused turnovers to tie a school record and six ground balls while matching her career-high with five goals. On the season, she's second in the GLIAC and 39th in the nation with 2.17 caused turnovers per game while ranking 15th in the country with 15 goals and 27th with 16 points.
