GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the eighth GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2022 season. Concordia-St. Paul senior attacker/midfielder Delaney Davidson was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week while Grand Valley State senior defender Leigha Johnson secured back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week honors.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Leigha Johnson, Grand Valley State
Senior defender Leigha Johnson (Syracuse, N.Y.) helped guide the No. 11 Lakers to a 22-3 victory over Upper Iowa on Friday and a 15-4 win over Concordia St. Paul on Sunday. Johnson’s defensive efforts held their opponents to a combined seven goals this weekend and shut out one of the leading scorers in the GLIAC on Sunday. The Laker defense held the Peacocks to just six shots and also held the Golden Bears to 22 shots (12 shots on goal), keeping them under their shots per game average (26) and goals per game average (11). GVSU was able to shut out the Peacocks for two quarters on Friday and shut out CSP in the third quarter on Sunday.
