CSP's Sheets and DU's Latus earn women's lacrosse weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the first GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2023 season. Concordia St. Paul freshman attacker Lauren Sheets was named Offensive Player of the Week and Davenport redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Maisy Latus received Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lauren Sheets, Concordia St. Paul

The freshman attacker from Lakeville, Minnesota had a big debut weekend for a Golden Bear squad that split against a pair of GLVC squads in non-conference play. She scored her first career goal against the defending NCAA Division II champion Indianapolis on Saturday in the home opener before putting up five goals in a six-point performance in a Sunday win at Quincy. She scored the game-winner with just over a minute and a half to play to give CSP it's first win of the year. On the weekend, Sheets had seven points including six goals and an assist along with a draw control.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Maisy Latus, Davenport

Redshirt sophomore Maisy Latus (West Henrietta, N.Y.) has been named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career. The goalkeeper registered 11 saves against both Quincy and Mckendree in the Panthers’ opening week of action. Latus finished with a .550 save percentage against the Hawks while posting a .478 save percentage against the Bearcats. In the 12-9 loss to McKendree, Latus stepped up late to give Davenport a chance for a comeback, not allowing a goal in the final period.
