GVSU’s Natalja Stanski Named 2009 ESPN the Magazine Women's Soccer Academic All-American of the Year

TOWSON, Md. - Senior defender Natalja Stanski of undefeated Grand Valley State has been named the winner of the College Division ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the Year, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Stanski was also selected to the College Division Academic All-American First Team.

Stanski has been named a Daktronics First Team All-American, First Team All-Midwest Region, and a First Team All-GLIAC defender. She was also GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008. She has been apart of an impressive backline that has only allowed 10 goals all season, averaging out to .417 goals-against per game. In her career she has posted an astounding record of 81-3-6. The Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada native is a Pre-Medical Tech major with a perfect 4.0 G.P.A.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information department.
