Ohio Dominican, Grand Valley State Claim Co-GLIAC Women's Soccer Titles

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Ohio Dominican and Grand Valley State both earned a share of the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Soccer Championship today (Nov. 1) after victories on the final day of the regular season. Ohio Dominican will be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament by virtue of their 1-0 victory over GVSU back on October 17 in Allendale.

Ohio Dominican claimed a share of the conference title after a 4-1 victory on the road in Lake Erie Saturday afternoon. The Panthers struck twice in an 18-second span in the 27th minute to take an early 2-0 lead and never looked back. A pair of goals from Ashley Blake along with scores from Kelly Johnson and Jordan Mazzi enabled ODU to host next week's conference tournament.

Behind goals from Marti CorbyKaely Schlosser and Jenny Shaba, the Grand Valley State women's soccer team topped Walsh 3-0 on senior day, clinching a share of a 10th consecutive GLIAC regular season title. The Lakers posted their fourth consecutive shutout and limited Walsh to three shots all afternoon and will be the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

The eight-team tournament begins on Tuesday with the quarterfinal round hosted at campus sites.
