UWP's Benich, GVSU's Radice Garner GLIAC Women's Soccer Weekly Accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the third week of the 2019 women's soccer season. Parkside junior forward Delaney Benich earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Grand Valley State junior goalkeeper Jessica Radice claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Delaney Benich - Parkside

Benich was an important part of the Rangers going 2-0 over the weekend, as the junior scored a goal in both games over the week. The Crown Point, Ind., native scored the game-winner in the 2-1 victory over Winona State, then followed that up with an equalizing goal in the 2-1 victory over Northern Michigan on Saturday.
After her big week, Benich is now third on the team in points and tied for second in goals, while helping the Rangers to have won three straight.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jessica Radice - Grand Valley State

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Radice posted her third shutout of the season on Saturday, holding one of the top-scoring offenses in Division II off the scoresheet. She was instrumental in communication with the backline for both possession and defending crosses and set pieces, helping orchestrate a defensive effort that allowed just three shots on goal; all of which were saved by Radice. She made a critical stop in a one-on-one matchup in the 87’ to prevent No. 13 Columbus State from scoring the equalizer and allowing No. 4 GVSU to hold on for a 1-0 road win.
