Parkside's Baker and FSU's Mosallaei honored as women's soccer GLIAC Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after week nine of the 2022 women's soccer season. Parkside senior forward Alexis Baker received GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades while Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alexis Baker, Parkside

Alexis Baker led the Parkside Rangers with two goals in Friday's victory over #6 Grand Valley State. Her first goal gave the Rangers an early 1-0 lead in the first half of the match. Her second goal came in the 73rd minute and served as an insurance goal as the Rangers went on to defeat the Lakers 3-1. Baker currently leads the Rangers with eight goals this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Darya Mosallaei, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei led the Bulldogs over the weekend, posting back-to-back shutouts in 180 minutes of action in two home outings in Big Rapids. The Bulldog netminder made a save and earned a 2-0 win over Michigan Tech on Friday before coming back to record four saves in FSU's 0-0 scoreless deadlock in a showdown against Northern Michigan on Sunday. Mosallaei moved into second place all-time in career shutouts at FSU with her weekend performance and is one away from matching the school's all-time mark. She finished the week with a 1-0-1 mark and made five stops in 180 minutes as the Bulldogs moved into second place in the league standings and stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 consecutive contests.
