Jenison, Mich.-- Wayne State's Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Swimming and Diving "Athlete of the Year". Grand Valley State's Lauren Dorsey (Howell, Mich.)was tabbed with "Freshman of the Year" honors and Coach of the Year accolades went to Andy Boyce from Grand Valley State.
Athlete of the Year
Elaina Hogle - Wayne State University

Butterfly/Breaststroke/IM
Senior Elaina Hogle, who earned her second consecutive
GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Year award, contributed to five
championships for the Warrior women's squad last week.
Individually, she won the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.12) and 400-yard
individual medley (4:26.52), her second career titles in both
events. She also set GLIAC records and broke her own school marks
in both. Hogle was also part of the first-place 400-yard freestyle
(3:28.57), 800-yard freestyle (7:31.19), and 400-yard medley
(3:47.37) relays, all of which broke GLIAC and WSU records.
Freshman of the Year
Lauren Dorsey - Grand Valley State University
Freshman - Howell, Mich.
IM/Breaststroke
Freshman Lauren Dorsey scored 50 individual points and was a part
of two relays that scored 68 points for a total of 118 points
scored in the GLIAC Championship meet. Dorsey claimed the GLIAC
title in the 200-yard breaststroke with a GLIAC and school-record
time of 2:17.09. Dorsey finished second and set the GVSU school
record in the 100-yard breast 1:03.41, while her time of 2:07.42 in
the 200-yard IM was good for sixth and hit the NCAA DII A cut.
Dorsey also hit the A standard in the 100-yard and 200-yard breast.
Coach of the Year
Andy Boyce - Grand Valley State University
Grand Valley State women's swimming & diving coach
Andy Boyce has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year. Boyce led
the Laker women to their first-ever GLIAC Championship with a GLIAC
Championship meet record 897 points. Boyce, in his first full
season as head coach, led the Lakers to a 7-0 GLIAC dual-meet
record and a first-place finish in the Wheaton Invitational. In
addition, the GVSU women's swimming and diving team hit 52
individual qualifying marks and all qualified all five relays for
the NCAA DII National Championships.
