NU's Bandrowski, GVSU's Matov Earn GLIAC Tennis Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its second tennis weekly awards for the 2021 campaign. Northwood's Amanda Bandrowski earned Women's Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State's Martin Matov was awarded Men's Player of the Week accolades. 


WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Amanda Bandrowski - Northwood

Amanda Bandrowski led Northwood to an upset victory over No. 20 Grand Valley State, winning from the top position in both singles and doubles. She teamed with Elizaveta Velichko to pick up a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Bandrowski went on to win 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position. Northwood is currently on a four-match winning streak.

MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Martin Matov - Grand Valley State 

Grand Valley St. Junior Martin Matov has been named the GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the GLIAC Office. Matov claimed a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and went on to win a 6-2, 6-4 match at No. 1 Singles, against the Northwood Timberwolves. The Lakers improved to a 5-7 overall record and a GLIAC leading 3-0. This is Matov's first Player of the Week Award of his career.
