FSU's Klak and Mader Claim GLIAC Tennis Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its final tennis weekly awards for the 2021 season. Ferris State swept the weekly accolades with junior Agata Klak earning Women's Tennis Player of the Week,  and sophomore Yannic Mader securing Men's Tennis Player of the Week. 


WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Agata Klak  - Ferris State


Ferris State University's Agata Klak helped lead the nationally 19th-ranked Bulldogs to their first conference women's tennis championship since 2002 as FSU stretched its win streak to 13 consecutive matches and stayed unbeaten in league play. Since last Tuesday, Klak has recorded a perfect 4-0 singles mark at either the third or fourth flight in four matches, including big road wins at Northwood and Grand Valley State. Additionally, she also went 3-1 in doubles action at the number one flight in the lineup for a 7-1 overall mark on the week. FSU capped the week with back-to-back league road victories at Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech over the weekend, securing the top seed for the league tournament and the program's first regular-season championship in 19 years.

MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Yannic Mader  - Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore standout Yannic Mader had a big week for the Bulldogs, helping FSU clinch the GLIAC regular-season championship while improving to a perfect 13-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play. Mader posted a 6-0 overall combined singles and doubles record on the week as FSU finished regular-season action unbeaten in the conference with three wins. He led FSU to a road win at Grand Valley State last Wednesday followed by back-to-back victories in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech on the weekend. Mader posted a pair of wins at two singles and three doubles before moving up and notching wins at one singles and two doubles in the regular-season finale win at MTU on Saturday. His play also helped FSU secure the top seed for the conference tournament.
