Bay City, Mich. -- Grand Valley State's Karie McDonald (Frankenmuth, Mich.) and Lauren Buresh (Stanwood, Mich.) have been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field "Athletes of the Week", respectively as announced by the league office.

Karie McDonald ~ Grand Valley State University
Freshman ~ Frankenmuth, Mich
Freshman Karie McDonald hit an automatic qualifying mark
for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships with a
third-place time of 10:49.97 in the 3000-meter
steeplechase.
Field Athlete of the Week
Lauren Buresh ~ Grand Valley State University
Junior ~ Stanwood, Mich.
Junior Lauren Buresh set a new Grand Valley State record
with a throw of 46-1.5 in the shot put, breaking her own record.
Buresh led the GVSU qualifiers at the Stan Lyons Invite in
Indianapolis, finishing fourth with her school-record throw which
also hit the provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II
Outdoor National Championships.
