Four #GLIACVB Student-Athletes Named to AVCA Division II Honorable Mention All-America Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 34th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division II women's volleyball.

Findlay's freshman Nickyla Garverick and sophomore Hannah Tong, along with Ferris State's junior Megan Vander Meer, and Grand Valley's senior Kaitlyn Wolters were all named to the Honorable Mention All-America Team.

Tong, who was the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Attacker of the Year, led the Oilers with 390 kills. She averaged 3.55 kills per set and also contributed 58 blocks and 50 digs.  The Carey, Ohio native also picked up first team all-conference honors this season and was tabbed second team all-region by Daktronics.

Garverick, the 2014 GLIAC Blocker and Freshman of the Year, recorded 266 kills and a team-high 135 blocks for the Oilers. She also hit .302 on the season and added 19 digs.  The Crestline, Ohio native also earned first team all-conference accolades and was a second team all-region pick by Daktronics.

Vander Meer led the Bulldogs with 316 kills in 30 matches. She appeared in 101 sets and owned one of the squad's top hitting percentages with a .270 figure. Additionally, she tallied 255 digs, 47 blocks and 20 service aces for Ferris State. Vander Meer was an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team recipient.

The 2014 GLIAC Player of the Year and the first-ever GLIAC Setter of the Year, Wolters put together a banner 2014 season. She leads GVSU, as well as the entire conference, with a .418 hitting percentage, collecting 159 kills, fourth-most on the Lakers. Wolters had tallied 1,016 assists, good for 9.77 per set, while adding a team-best 40 service aces. She has been just as strong defensively, totaling 304 digs and 44 total blocks. Wolters has been named to the All-GLIAC First Team in each of her two seasons as a Laker. Her 2,267 career assists are eighth-most in school history, while her 9.99 assists per set are fifth-best.
