As both squads are travel partners within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), the Lakers and Bulldogs both posted identical weekend sweeps against Saginaw Valley and Wayne State.

Grand Valley State moves to 22-4 overall on the year, while Ferris State improved to 20-5. The two rivals each claimed a share of the GLIAC Championship by virtue of their 17-1 league marks, as both teams bested the other at home during the year.
