NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Walsh University Director of Athletics Dale Howard has announced the hiring of Kassie Kadera as the new head women's volleyball coach. Kadera replaces Erin Stine who resigned on February 26. Kadera, who served as an assistant this past season, becomes the 10th head coach for the program which began in 1978.

"I am happy to be able to appoint Kassie as our Head Volleyball Coach, stated Howard. "She emerged as the choice of our search process as a result of her strong work ethic, her dedication to our program and our student athletes, and her passion and enthusiasm to take us to the next level in Division II competition.  Due in large part to her experiences, both prior to her arrival at Walsh last year, as well as here at Walsh during the 2014-15 academic year, I am confident in her abilities to support the university's efforts to educate and develop our student-athletes holistically; mind, body and spirit. "I would like to thank Director of Athletics Dale Howard and the rest of the committee for giving me this incredible opportunity," exclaimed Kadera. "I have been fortunate to have worked under and guided by some dedicated, passionate coaches, and am ready to step up and take on the challenge of leading this talented program. Walsh University is such a special place campus wide, and I am extremely blessed and thankful to be a part of the future success of Cavalier Volleyball. "

Kadera served as Stine's top assistant last year and also recruiting coordinator. She coached and was the recruiting coordinator for the Toledo Volleyball Club in 2013 after spending one season at the University of Akron as a volunteer assistant coach. Kassie was a three-time All-MAC selection at the University of Toledo, and ran the Toledo offense for the four years. She finished her career second in program history in career assists, totaling 4,853 assists and averaging 11.04 assists per set as a senior in 2011. Kadera graduated from Toledo in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sport management.
