GLIAC lands five players on AVCA All-America teams

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 37th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division II women's volleyball. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is represented by five players.

Ferris State junior outside hitter Allyson Cappel was named to the second team, and Michigan Tech sophomore outside hitter Olivia Ghormley was a third team selection.

Cappel hit .202 with a 3.45 kills per set average and is the program's 16th AVCA all-American. Ghormley averaged 4.58 kills per set with a .240 attack percentage and is the program's fifth AVCA all-American.

Grand Valley State senior middle blocker Staci Brower, MTU sophomore setter Laura DeMarchi and Ferris State sophomore hitter Katie O'Connell received honorable mention.
