Northern Michigan Posts 3-0 Record at 2018 Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover; All-Tournament Team Announced

CROSSOVER TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

INDIANAPOLIS  – The 11th annual Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover, the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament, is in the books and the Northern Michigan Wildcats were the lone GLIAC program to go unbeaten at the The Academy Volleyball Club in Indianapolis on Oct. 12-13, 2018. The GLVC posted a 32-10 record, while the GLIAC went 16-20 with the GMAC posting a 9-27 mark.

NMU earned victories over Cedarville (3-1), Southern Indiana (3-0) and Missouri S&T (3-0) to lead the conference. No. 5 Ferris State, No. 25 Michigan Tech, Ashland, Northwood and Lake Superior State all went 2-1 on the weekend.

The following individuals were honored as part of the All-Tournament Team: Davenport's Ashley VanderHorst, Michigan Tech's Olivia Ghormley, Northern Michigan's Autumn Monsma, Ashland's Zoey Peck, Ferris State's Katie Placek and Michigan Tech's Laura DeMarchi.

The two-day tournament featured 57 matches conducted on 10 courts throughout six sessions at one of the top volleyball facilities in the country. The event is designed to increase competition between teams from the three leagues in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) posted an impressive 16-6 record on Friday, while the GLIAC managed a 7-12 mark with the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) going 6-11. Ferris State and Michigan Tech went 2-0 on Friday, while Ashland, Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State also earned wins on day one.

The regional volleyball event featured 38 NCAA DII midwest region programs, including 14 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), 12 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and 12 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) volleyball programs that will represent their respecitive conferences.
