Michigan Tech's Sherman, Wayne State's Richardson Collect GLIAC Volleyball Player of the Week Accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the tenth weekend of the 2018 volleyball season. Michigan Tech senior Mariah Sherman earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Wayne State senior Hailey Richardson captured South Division accolades for the fourth time this season.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mariah Sherman - Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech senior Mariah Sherman put up one of the best games of her career, recording 22 kills (5.50/set) and a hitting percentage of .450 as the No. 25 Huskies defeated Northern Michigan 3-1 on Friday. Sherman only committed four errors on the night and added two digs, two block assists, and an assist as the Huskies beat Northern Michigan for the fourth straight match.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hailey Richardson - Wayne State

Wayne State senior co-captain Hailey Richardson pushed WSU's winning streak to four with sweeps over Purdue Northwest and Parkside this past weekend. Her 34 kills (5.67/set) brought her season total to 399, which ranks second in the GLIAC. She also is second in the league at 4.34 kills per set and hit .342 in the six sets. In addition, Richardson tallied 19 digs (3.17/set) and three blocks.
