Michigan Tech's Ghormley, Wayne State's Richardson Named GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the third weekend of the 2018 volleyball season. Michigan Tech sophomore outside hitter Olivia Ghormley earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Wayne State senior captain outside hitter Hailey Richardson captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Olivia Ghormley - Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech sophomore outside hitter Olivia Ghormley led Michigan Tech in kills (33), kills per set, and attacking percentage in wins over Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State. Ghormley averaged 5.50 kills per set and .386 attack percentage on the road against Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State. She made only six errors in 70 attempts in two games and leads the GLIAC in kills, kills per set, and points per set.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hailey Richardson - Wayne State

Wayne State senior captain outside hitter Hailey Richardson led WSU to a 2-0 start in GLIAC play with wins over GVSU and Davenport. She collected her fourth and fifth straight double-doubles and tallied 36 kills (5.14/set) and 25 digs (3.57/set). Richardson finished with 21 kills and 13 digs versus the Lakers and ended the weekend with a 15-kill and 12-dig performance against the Panthers.
