Schepel comes to the PNW Pride from Trinity Christian College where he coached for thirteen seasons. During his tenure with the Trolls, he built an impressive record of 375-170 and led the Trolls to the NAIA National Championship tournament six times. Under his leadership, the Trinity Christian women's volleyball program had seven seasons with 30+ victories and for the past ten seasons have advanced to a post-season national tournament including NCCAA National Titles in 2014 and 2016. Schepel led the Trolls to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) tournament championship titles in 2013, 2015, and 2019 and regular season titles in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2019.

"I am pleased that Bill Schepel will lead the Pride Volleyball team," stated Rick Costello, PNW Director of Athletics. "The Trinity Christian teams under his leadership have been extremely successful, winning many championships. His experience, knowledge and love for the game will be integral as the PNW Pride compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference and NCAA Division II. I look forward to Bill's amazing impact as he develops, guides and leads the Purdue Northwest women's volleyball program to excellence."

Schepel was named American Volleyball Coaches Association NCCAA Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016.  Additionally, he earned CCAC Coach of the Year honors in 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019.

"I am very excited to begin this next chapter of my professional career," said Schepel. "In 13 years at Trinity, after wearing may hats, it has become clear to me that my passion lies in coaching first and foremost. This opportunity at Purdue Northwest allows me to focus solely on developing the women's volleyball program and I look forward to devoting my full energy and effort into making Pride Volleyball competitive and respected in the GLIAC and NCAA Division II. I would like to thank Purdue Northwest Chancellor Keon and Rick Costello for this wonderful opportunity."

In addition to his head coaching duties, Schepel previously served as the Athletic Director at Trinity Christian for seven years and was the director of volleyball operations for the men's volleyball program. Prior to Trinity Christian, he coached and taught for over twenty years at the high school level. He coached his teams to 461-226-12, including four regional and two sectional titles and a state tournament appearance in 2003.

Schepel graduated from Trinity Christian in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and earned his master's degree in sports administration from Valparaiso University.
