WSU's Krenz, MTU's Ghormley Earn GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following week seven of the 2019 volleyball season. Michigan Tech junior Olivia Ghormley earned GLIAC Volleyball North Player of the week honors, while Wayne State senior Madelyn Krenz was awarded GLIAC Volleyball South Division Player of the Week accolades. 


 NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Olivia Ghormley, Michigan Tech  

Ghormley, a native of Oneida, Wisconsin, led Michigan Tech to an undefeated weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament for the first time in program history. She was named to the Crossover All-Tournament Team for the second straight season after totaling 58 kills on the weekend, averaging 5.27 per set. She hit .329 with only 12 errors on 140 attempts while adding 28 digs, four service aces, and two block assists. Ghormley had a double-double with 22 kills and 12 digs against Cedarville. The junior outside hitter added 22 kills with only one error versus UIS and 14 kills and nine digs against Drury.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Madelyn Krenz, Wayne State

Senior Madelyn Krenz (Chenoa, Ill. / Prairie Central) finished with 62 kills in the three matches at the Midwest Regional Crossover as the Warriors won two of three.  In a five-set loss to William Jewell, Krenz tallied a program record (rally scoring era) 30 kills on 53 swings to post a .472 hitting percentage.  She had 13 kills vs. Ohio Dominican and 19 against Truman State,  For the weekend, Krenz posted 4.77 kills per set with a .377 overall hitting percentage.
