MTU's Ghormley, DU's Kreiger Claim GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fifth weekly awards of the 2021 GLIAC volleyball season. For the second consecutive week, Michigan Tech senior Olivia Ghormley was named North Division Player of the Week, while Davenport junior Hayley Kreiger was selected GLIAC Volleyball South Division Player of the Week for the first time in her career. 


 NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Olivia Ghormley - Michigan Tech

 Michigan Tech's Olivia Ghormley led the Huskies to a pair of 3-0 sweep at Saginaw Valley State over the weekend. Ghormley hit .432 in the two matches and totaled 23 kills, averaging 3.83 per set. She added an assist, a dig, and a block assist. Ghormley had a match-high 15 kills Friday and added eight kills on only 13 attempts Saturday. She ranks second in the GLIAC with 4.07 kills per set and is seventh with a .313 hitting percentage.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hayley Kreiger - Davenport 

 Davenport's junior outside hitter, Hayley Kreiger, was named GLIAC South Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday. The honor comes after Kreiger hit .353 with 38 kills and only eight errors on 85 total attacks in a pair of home wins over Wayne State.Kreiger opened her week on Friday by hitting a season-high .444 with 14 kills and only two errors on 27 swings. The South Haven native followed that up with a .310 clip on Saturday as she tied her career high for both kills (24) and attacks (58) to go with just six errors.
