MTU's Jonynas, AU's Krupar Claim GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its final weekly awards of the 2021 GLIAC volleyball season. Michigan Tech senior Anna Jonynas was named North Division Player of the Week, while Ashland junior Erin Krupar was selected GLIAC Volleyball South Division Player of the Week. 


 NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Anna Jonynas, Michigan Tech

 Michigan Tech's Anna Jonynas led the Huskies to a weekend split with No. 19 Northern Michigan. The senior outside hitter led the Huskies with 45 kills on the weekend, averaging 5 per set while hitting .397. She tallied a career-high 23 kills Saturday in a five-set loss while notching 22 kills Friday in a 3-1 victory. Jonynas added 33 digs, averaging 3.7 per set. She also tallied four aces and a pair of blocks. She is third in the GLIAC in kills per set (3.98), 10th in hitting percentage (.268), and 15th in digs per set (3.7).


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Erin Krupar, Ashland

 Krupar was dynamite in a pair of AU wins last week over Wayne State. She averaged five kills and 3.14 digs per set while hitting at a .394 clip. In total, she racked up 35 kills, 22 digs, four blocks and two aces across seven sets. In Thursday's sweep of the Warriors, Krupar had 13 kills and 11 digs while hitting .375. She followed it up with 22 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 win on Saturday, hitting .404 in the match. She ranks third in the GLIAC in kills per set (3.98) and is hitting .218 on the season.
