WSU's Duffield and FSU's Maat receive GLIAC volleyball players of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following Week 9 of the 2021 volleyball season. Wayne State senior setter Kamryn Duffield received GLIAC Volleyball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Ferris State freshman Kaylee Maat earned the GLIAC Volleyball South Division Player of the Week award. 


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kamryn Duffield - Wayne State

Wayne State senior setter Kamryn Duffield (Romeo, Mich.) helped three Warriors finish with 10 or more kills on Friday night in a five-set win at SVSU. She dished out 46 assists (9.20/set) and had 13 digs to go with three kills and two blocks. Wayne State has won six straight and secured a home quarterfinal match on Nov. 17.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kaylee Maat - Ferris State

Ferris State University freshman setter Kaylee Maat (Hudsonville, Mich.) had a big weekend for the region's second-ranked Bulldogs, helping FSU clinch the GLIAC South Division Championship with a road sweep. Maat led a balanced Bulldog attack in back-to-back sweeps at Purdue Northwest and Parkside as FSU stretched its winning streak to 16 consecutive matches. She served as FSU's lone setter in the two matches that saw the Bulldogs put 13 different players on the floor in decisive wins. She totaled 94 assists along with 30 digs, five kills, five aces and two blocks on the weekend, averaging 10.44 assists and 3.33 digs per frame. Her play helped the Bulldogs improve to 21-4 overall this year.
