GLIAC Volleyball Tournament field and seeding finalized

GLIAC -- With the conclusion of regular season competition on Saturday night, seeding and quarterfinal matchups for the upcoming 2021 GLIAC Volleyball Tournament have been finalized.

Michigan Tech, ranked No. 21 nationally, secured the GLIAC championship on Friday night and will serve as the tournament's No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year. The Huskies finished with a 22-5 overall record and a 14-1 mark in the GLIAC, winning their final 14 conference matches. Tech went 44-4 in sets during the GLIAC regular season and finished with the highest conference winning percentage in program history at 93 percent.

Ferris State, which enters the postseason riding a 17-match winning streak, is the No. 2 seed.

Wayne State is the No. 3 seed followed by Grand Valley State (No. 4), Davenport (No. 5), Saginaw Valley State (No. 6), Northern Michigan (No. 7) and Northwood (No. 8). 

Michigan Tech, Ferris State, Wayne State and Grand Valley will host quarterfinal matches on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

The semifinals (Saturday, Nov. 20) and final (Sunday, Nov. 21) will take place on the campus of the highest remaining seed following the quarterfinal round. 

Northern Michigan won the 2020 tournament crown, halting a six-year tournament title run by Ferris State.
