FSU's Nowicki, Bylut and Maat receive GLIAC Volleyball weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week four of the 2022 volleyball season. Ferris State swept the awards, with Claire Nowicki (offensive), Leah Bylut (defensive) and Kaylee Maat (setter) receiving recognition.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Claire Nowicki, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore setter Claire Nowicki helped lead the Bulldogs to a three-match sweep in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the weekend. FSU did not drop a set in road wins over Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State while remaining the league's lone unbeaten team in conference play and stretching their win streak to seven consecutive matches. Nowicki paced FSU with 40 kills on the weekend while totaling 18 digs and six total blocks. For the stretch, she averaged 4.44 kills and 2.00 digs per set while hitting an impressive .419 overall, finishing the weekend with only four attack errors on 86 total attempts. Nowicki had 15 kills in Friday?s win at MTU along with 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks on Saturday against NMU. Finally, she totaled 13 kills on Sunday in the triumph at LSSU. For the week, she totaled 44 points and averaged 4.9 points per set.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Leah Bylut, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore libero Leah Bylut helped lead the Bulldogs to a three-match sweep in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the weekend. FSU did not drop a set in road wins over Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State while remaining the league's lone unbeaten team in conference play and stretching their win streak to seven consecutive matches. Bylut had a team-leading 46 digs on the weekend, averaging 5.11 digs per set. She also added 12 assists and two aces. Overall, she totaled 20 digs in Friday?s win at Michigan Tech before coming back with 10 digs at Northern Michigan on Saturday and 16 digs versus LSSU on Sunday.


SETTER OF THE WEEK - Kaylee Maat, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore setter Kaylee Maat led the Bulldogs to a three-match sweep in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the weekend. FSU did not drop a set in road wins over Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State while remaining the league's lone unbeaten team in conference play and stretching their win streak to seven consecutive matches. Maat totaled 100 assists on the weekend along with 27 digs, 11 service aces and five total blocks. She averaged 11.11 assists per set for FSU. The sophomore standout had 36 assists, seven aces, four digs and two blocks against Michigan Tech before coming back with 31 assists, 13 digs, four aces and a block at NMU. Finally, she closed the trip with 33 assists, 10 digs and two blocks in the win over LSSU on Sunday.
