OFFICIAL RESULTS: WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY // MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
TIFFIN, Ohio – The Grand Valley State University men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the team titles at the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships held on Saturday (Nov. 8) at the Seneca Hills Golf Course in Tiffin, Ohio.
The opening event of the day was the GLIAC Women’s Cross Country Championship race, which was won by GVSU with a team score of 21 outdistancing second-place Hillsdale by 40 points (21-61). The Lakers claimed their 14th straight conference title after placing four runners in the top-five, led by sophomore Kendra Foley with a time of 20:31.8. She was also named “Runner of the Year.” Overall, the Lakers placed six competitors in the race on the All-GLIAC First and Second Teams.
“Freshman of the Year” accolades went to Hillsdale’s Hannah McIntyre, who placed seventh with a time of 21:02.8 and Jerry Baltes of Grand Valley was named “Coach of the Year.”
The Grand Valley State Men’s Cross Country team claimed its 13th straight GLIAC Championship with a total of 33 points, 34 points ahead of second-place Malone University. Ashland University’s Nick Hall claimed the top-spot after completing the course 23:58.9, and also took home GLIAC “Runner of the Year” honors. Grand Valley State’s Wuoi Mach was named “Freshman of the Year.”
The top ten finishers earned 2014 All-GLIAC First Team honors, while finishers 11 thru 20 are recognized on the All-GLIAC Second Team.
