GVSU's Panning & Ludge Sweep GLIAC Cross Country Weekly Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the sixth week of the 2018 cross country season. Grand Valley State’s junior Allie Ludge captured GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on the women's side, while Grand Valley State senior Zach Panning garnered the men's award. 


WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Allie Ludge - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State’s junior Allie Ludge had a blistering time of 20:46.5 in the 6k race after she finished as the top Division II athlete and seventh overall during the Bradley Pink Classic. Ludge’s performance also helped the team finish as the top Division II team and fourth overall.

In addition, Ludge’s time of 20:47.5 was a personal-record for the junior, as she shattered her old PR of 21:40. This is also her second conference Athlete of the Week accolade this season.


MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Zach Panning - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior Zach Panning capped off the 2018 cross country regular season with a first place finish at the Bradley Pink Classic after he ran a 24:06.7 in 8K race, that helped the team finish as the top Division II team and second overall in the race.

This was Panning’s third race this season that he has claimed the individual title as he previously finished first at the MSU Spartan Invitational, followed by another first place finish at the 41st Loyola Lakefront Invitational. In addition, this is Panning’s second time this season that he has been selected as the conference Athlete of the Week.
