SVSU's Brown and WSU's Justice earn athlete of the week recognition in cross country

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week six of the 2022 cross country season. Saginaw Valley State senior Dayton Brown received GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week honors while Wayne State sophomore Reagan Justice was named GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week.


MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dayton Brown, Saginaw Valley State

The Saginaw Valley State University cross country teams competed at the Lewis University Crossover on Saturday in Romeoville, Ill. The Cardinal men were led by Dayton Brown, who crossed the line first in the 213-runner field. Brown, from Rockford, Mich., finished in a time of 23:49.90. For his efforts, Brown has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday. He is the first Cardinal to win the award this season. Both the Cardinal men and women finished fifth as a team at the Lewis Crossover.


WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Reagan Justice, Wayne State

Wayne State University sophomore Reagan Justice (Canton, Mich. / Salem) earned her third career GLIAC Athlete of the Week honor and second this season after helping Wayne State finish third as a team at the Lucian Rosa Invite this past Saturday.  Justice led the Warriors with an eighth-place individual finish in a time of 21:54.03 for the 6K race.  She has finished among the top 10 of each race this season, including top-two finishes in the Warriors' first two meets of the year.
