WSU's Allen and PNW's Shaginaw honored with GLIAC weekly cross country awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week eight of the 2022 cross country season. Wayne State redshirt junior Ransom Allen earned GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week honors and Purdue Northwest senior Christina Shaginaw was named GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week.


MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ransom Allen, Wayne State

Wayne State University redshirt junior Ransom Allen (Ithaca, Mich.) was selected GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after a strong performance at last Saturday's Warrior Challenge. Allen topped the field by crossing the finish line in 24:53.9. This is the second consecutive season that Allen has won the event and subsequently been honored as GLIAC Athlete of the Week. Furthermore, Allen has finished in the top 10 of every race this season and in the top 25 of every race since the beginning of last season. 


WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Christina Shaginaw, Purdue Northwest

Christina Shaginaw raced her way into the record books once again as she finished with another Top-5 finish for the Purdue Northwest Women’s Cross Country. She placed in third at the Warrior Challenge over the weekend with new program record of 21:57.5! This is the second time this season that Shaginaw has the program record mark for the Pride women’s cross country team.
