CURTIN SHATTERS TD RECEPTION MARK
Matt Curtin shattered Michigan Tech's school record for touchdown catches in a season by adding three to his total at Ferris State. The senior wide receiver hauled in 10 passes for 178 yards and three scores in Tech's 56-49 loss to the Bulldogs scoring plays of 42, 25 and 11 yards. In one of the most impressive streaks in school history over the last four weeks, Curtin has 34 catches for 637 yards and 11 touchdowns for averages of 8.5 catches, 159 yards and 2.8 touchdowns. The previous Tech record for TD receptions in a season was nine.

SCARLETT TIES RECORDS FOR TDS IN A GAME AND SEASON
Tyler Scarlett became just the second player in Michigan Tech history with six touchdown passes in a game when he tossed six at Ferris State last Saturday (Oct. 20). The sophomore quarterback threw scoring passes to Matt Curtin (3), Alex Elsenheimer (2) and Cole Welch (1). Scarlett also matched the season record for TD passes with 20. With only three interceptions on the year, he owns a pass efficiency rating of 156 (ranking third in the GLIAC and 15th nationally). The players Scarlett has tied are two of the best quarterbacks in school history in Steve Short (six TDs vs. Winona State in 2007) and Dan Mettlach (20 TDs in the 2004 season).

DESTINY IN THEIR OWN HANDS
The Huskies currently sit in a four-way tie for second place in the GLIAC North Division standings at 5-2. Hillsdale sits atop the standings at 6-1 in league play with Saginaw Valley State, Grand Valley State and Wayne State all tied with Tech at 5-2. The Huskies control their own destiny to win a GLIAC title with games against Saginaw Valley State, Hillsdale and Wayne State over the final three weeks.

BARBER NOTCHES SEASON HIGH
Running back Cedrick Barber rushed 15 times or 76 yards and a touchdown at Ferris State last Saturday (Oct. 20). The senior posted his season high in yards during the game and ran his season touchdown total to six in seven games. Barber has a team-high 295 yards on 93 carries.

TECH HAS THE GLIAC-LEADING RUSHING DEFENSE
Michigan Tech ranks tops in the GLIAC in rushing defense by allowing just 119.6 yards per game. The Huskies allowed a season-high 244 yards to Ferris State last week, but have held three of their seven opponents under 60 yards rushing. Tech is seventh in the GLIAC (of 16 teams) in total defense by allowing 364 yards per game.

ARMSTRONG LEADING TEAM IN TACKLES
Senior Justin Armstrong leads the team in tackles with 51 this year. The linebacker from Las Vegas, Nev., has tallied 38 of those in the last four weeks for an average of 9.5. Armstrong had a team-high 12 tackles at Ferris State one week after his first double-digit performance vs. Northwood (10). Tech's second-leading tackler is also a linebacker—sophomore Dan Perrault with 48.

SERIES VS. SAGINAW VALLEY STATE
Michigan Tech trails Saginaw Valley State 18-7 in the all-time series. The Cardinals have won five games in a row including a 44-41 overtime victory in Houghton a year ago (Oct. 8). The Huskies last win in the series was Oct. 14, 2006 (a 20-7 win at Tech). The last time Michigan Tech defeated SVSU in University Center was in 1995.

COACH KEARLY
Michigan Tech head coach Tom Kearly is in his seventh season as head coach and 13th overall with the Huskies program. The skipper owns a 42-28 record (.600 winning percentage) and has coached Tech to two of the eight eight-win seasons in school history. Kearly, a Hancock native and 1979 Winona State graduate, coached at Central Michigan for 19 seasons before returning to the Copper Country in 2000. He was the GLIAC Coach of the Year in 2010.

ALL-TIME RECORD
Michigan Tech has an all-time football record of 345-333-17 (.509 winning percentage) in 90 seasons of intercollegiate football. The Huskies are 62-37 over the last 10 seasons (.626 winning percentage).

2012 CAPTAINS
Michigan Tech's team captains for the 2012 season are senior linebacker Justin Armstrong, senior defensive tackle Jake Clark, senior tight end Bryan LaChapelle and senior offensive lineman Chris Mullen.

HUSKY BITES
Michigan Tech has four non-offensive touchdowns this season with a punt return TD, a fumble return TD, a kickoff return TD and a punt block return TD. The Huskies had just two non-offensive scores all of last season … The Huskies loss last week was the first time it had scored the first points of the game and lost. They are now 5-1 when scoring first … Michigan Tech is 5-2 this season in Saturday games … The Huskies' road white uniforms are new in 2012.
