Some strong play by the top of the singles flights helped the Charger men's tennis team hand Lawrence Tech its first loss of the season.
Wins by the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles players helped push the Chargers to a 5-4 win over Lawrence Tech in Dearborn, Michigan Saturday afternoon. The win was Hillsdale's second in a row and improves the team to 2-1 on the season.
Freshman Justin Hyman, sophomore Dugan Delp and freshman Gianperio Placidi all won in straight sets in the top three singles flights to help Hillsdale rally from a 2-1 deficit through doubles play. Hyman was a 6-3, 6-1 winner, while Delp picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Placidi marched to a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
Freshman Zach Rabitoy won a big match at No. 5 singles by a 6-4, 6-3 score to help clinch the win for Hillsdale.
Hyman and Delp teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
