Ferris State Women's Basketball Opens Season With Impressive Regional Triumph

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad started the season strong as the Bulldogs beat Missouri S&T 80-46 in regional crossover action on Friday (Nov. 10) evening in Lebanon, Ill.

Ferris State claimed the regional win to open the 2023-24 season, jumping out to a 20-11 lead after the opening 10 minutes of play. FSU outscored S&T in all four quarters of play, including a strong finish with a 26-14 edge in the final period.

Senior forward Chloe Idoni led the Bulldogs with a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds while fellow senior standout Mallory McCartney added 16 points and junior Kadyn Blanchard totaled 10 points with six rebounds. Freshman Claire Erickson added nine points off the bench as did sophomore Mya Hiram.

Ferris State finished shooting at a 46.7% clip for the night with the Bulldogs going four-of-24 (16.7%) from three-point range and six-of-12 (50%) at the free throw line. FSU owned a 47-38 rebounding margin and the Bulldogs forced 24 turnovers in the triumph.

Missouri S&T shot 29.1% from the field and made only two-of-16 (12.5%) three's along with 12-of-18 (66.7%) free throws.

Eryn Puett was the lone Missouri S&T player to reach double-figure scoring with 14 points in the setback.

Ferris State will take on host McKendree (Ill.) on Saturday (Nov. 11) evening in the weekend finale beginning at 8 p.m. (ET).
