Ferris State Volleyball Claims 11th Victory In Last 12 Matches By Winning At Northwood

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University recorded its 11th collegiate volleyball victory in the last 12 outings as the Bulldogs topped Northwood 3-1 in non-league action on Tuesday (Oct. 4) evening in Midland.

FSU claimed the regional win over its former Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) counterpart by earning a 15-25, 30-28, 25-14, 25-13 triumph.

The victory was not only Ferris State's 11th in its past 12 outings this year, but also its third in the last five days.

Three Bulldog players recorded 10 kills or more, including freshman Emma Bleecher with a team-high 11 kills. Both Olivia Henneman-Dallape and Syann Fairfield added 10 kills each in the balanced attack.

Sophomore setter Kaylee Maat finished the night with 37 assists and added a pair of service aces. Both Bleecher and fellow freshman Alina Anderson tallied a team-leading three aces apiece as FSU posted 11 overall for the contest.

Defensively, libero Leah Bylut tallied 18 digs with Claire Nowicki adding 14 digs for FSU, which moved to 11-7 overall this year with the triumph.

Ferris State netted 47 kills and 20 attack errors on 138 tries for a .196 attack figure. FSU also had 56 digs to go with 12 block assists and a solo block. Chelsie Freeman led FSU at the net with five block assists.

For Northwood, Kiana Martens totaled 12 kills with Sydney Hasenfratz adding 11 kills. Megan Acs finished with 25 digs and Renee Brines had 34 assists.

Overall, NU finished with 44 kills and 27 attack errors on 136 tries while compiling a .125 hitting figure. The Timberwolves totaled 58 digs, 12 block assists and a solo block to go with four service aces.

The Bulldogs will return to GLIAC play on Friday (Oct. 7) night at Purdue Northwest before visiting West Michigan rival Grand Valley State for a Saturday (Oct. 8) afternoon encounter in Allendale.
