Ferris State Races Past McKendree In Capping Unbeaten Opening Weekend

Big Rapids, Mich. - A big second half lifted the Ferris State University women's basketball squad to a 77-51 regional road win over McKendree (Ill.) on Saturday (Nov. 11) in Lebanon, Ill,

The Bulldogs wrapped up the opening weekend of the season with the victory to move to 2-0 on the year.

Ferris State took a 17-14 lead after the first period and held a five-point lead at halftime before outscoring McKendree 24-8 in the third period alone. The Bulldogs also won the fourth quarter 17-12 to account for the final margin.

Junior Kadyn Blanchard led the Bulldogs with a game-high 26 points while senior Chloe Idoni added 14 points and senior DeShonna Day notched 12 points. Sophomore Mia Riley added 10 points off the bench in the triumph.

FSU converted at 44.1% overall from the floor and made five-of-23 (21.7%) three's to go with 12-of-15 (80%) free throws.

Ferris State registered a 41-30 rebounding margin and the Bulldogs also totaled 15 steals in the game on 27 McKendree turnovers.

McKendree shot 42.4% overall, but was only two-of-10 (20%) from long range and 11-of-20 (55%) at the free throw stripe.

The Bulldogs, now 2-0 overall, will visit Northwood for another regional road tilt on Wednesday, Nov. 15, beginning at 6 p.m. (ET) in Midland.
