Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad fought back from a 13-point halftime deficit to knot the game up, but visiting Parkside pulled out a 75-66 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) decision in an exciting game on Saturday (Jan. 14) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs and Rangers battled back and forth in the opening frame, with Parkside building a 27-25 lead after one quarter, before UWP took a 47-34 lead at the break. However, Ferris State responded in a big way in the third period, tying the contest back up with a 27-14 edge in the frame. The Rangers, though, limited FSU to only five points in the final period to garner the triumph.

The setback spoiled an outstanding afternoon for senior forward Chloe Idoni, who finished with a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds to go with four assists in 36 minutes of action. Sophomore Kenzie Bowers joined her with a double-double, producing 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bulldogs were held to only 35.3% shooting with FSU finishing seven-of-33 (21.2%) from three-point range. Ferris State did go 11-of-11 (100%) at the free throw line.

Along with Idoni and Bowers, senior guard Mallory McCartney finished with nine points and had 11 assists with three steals while playing nearly the entire 40 minutes for the Bulldogs.

Parkside, which shot 49.2% overall, was led by GLIAC Player of the Year Alyssa Nelson, who had 23 points and six rebounds. Paty Gallasova added 20 points and Kendal Zeiter scored 14 points off the bench. UWP finished only six-of-23 (26.1%) from beyond the three-point line and went five-of-seven (71.4%) at the free throw stripe.

Overall, Parkside owned a slim 39-37 rebounding margin and the Rangers came up with 48 points inside the paint to 34 for the Bulldogs. UWP also held a 20-7 edge in fast break scoring and a 16-10 advantage in points off turnovers with both squads finishing with 11 overall.

Ferris State dropped to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the GLIAC with the setback while the Rangers moved to 10-7 overall and 6-2 in conference action.

The Bulldogs will hit the road next week to face Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (Jan. 18) evening in University Center before taking on Wayne State on Saturday (Jan. 20) in Detroit.
