Ferris State Pulls Out Road Win To Keep Pace In GLIAC Race

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad kept pace in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) race as the Bulldogs earned a hard-fought 85-75 league road win over Purdue Northwest on Saturday (Feb. 4) in Hammond, Ind.

The Bulldogs responded after a tough road loss at Parkside on Thursday evening to garner the win and remain a game behind UWP in the league standings with five games left in the regular-season.

FSU used a big second half offensively to stretch the lead and come away with the win after hitting several critical free throws down the stretch.

Solomon Oraegbu paced FSU with 19 points while both Dolapo Olayinka and Ben Davidson added 14 points. Vejas Grazulis scored 12 points in the triumph.

FSU shot 47.6% from the floor and made 10-of-20 (50%) three's along with 15-of-19 (78.9%) free throws.

The Pride finished shooting 39.1% from the field and made 11-of-31 (35.5%) three's along with 14-of-20 (70%) tries at the charity stripe. Alou Dillon led PNW with a game-high 28 points and Kalil Whitehead added 19 points off the bench, but those were the only two Purdue Northwest players to reach double-figure scoring.

The victory was Ferris State's seventh win in its last eight outings overall.

With the win, the Bulldogs are now 18-6 overall this season.

The Bulldogs return home to host Wayne State on Thursday (Feb. 9) at 7:30 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
