FSU Drops Close Game To Wrap Up Regional Crossover Event In Nashville

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad came out on the short end of a 72-65 regional decision at the hands of Southwest Baptist (Mo.) on Saturday (Nov. 12) afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.

FSU wrapped up the Robert Garrett Crossover Classic with a tightly-contested game at the Trojan Fieldhouse on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University. The game was tied at the break before Southwest Baptist outscored FSU 45-38 over the final 20 minutes of play.

Sophomore Solomon Oraegbu tallied 18 points in leading the Bulldogs with Vejas Grazulis adding 10 points in the setback. The Bulldogs had nine players reach the scoring column in the game and had 11 players see action.

Overall, FSU shot 48.9% from the floor and went seven-of-15 (46.7%) from long range in the game that featured eight lead changes and was tied 10 times. FSU also finished 14-of-20 (70%) at the free throw line.

Ferris State was hampered by turnovers as the Bulldogs finished with 29 in the game.

The Bulldogs owned a 34-26 rebounding edge and Grazulis grabbed 12 boards in a double-double showing. FSU limited Southwest Baptist to 40.4% shooting and a three-of-17 (17.6%) mark from the three-point stripe. However, SBU made 27-of-34 (79.4%) free throws.

Noah Franklin led three Southwest Baptist players in double-digits with 19 points and Quinn Nelson added 18 points with Mitch Ganote scoring 12 points.

The Bulldogs will head to South Dakota next weekend to face a pair of nationally-ranked foes in Northern State and Minnesota-Duluth at the Small College Basketball Champions Classic on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19, in Aberdeen.
