Bulldogs Sweep Lakers In Road Weekend Set

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team swept the Lake Superior State Lakers at the James Norris Center on Saturday (Feb. 27), winning 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-16) to take the full weekend Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) set from the Lakers.

Ferris State junior outside hitter Morgan Ross led the match with 11 kills and hit for a .524 attack percentage on the day while freshman setter Kaylee Maat had three of the Bulldogs' 10 service aces.

For the Bulldogs, Maat also dished out a match-high 28 assists.

The Bulldogs held the Lakers below a .095 attack percentage in each of the three sets and hit .220 or better themselves.

Ferris State senior outside hitter Katie O'Connell had nine kills for the Bulldogs. O'Connell, senior libero Nina Gorgijevska and junior middle hitter Samantha Hermann each had a pair of service aces.

Defensively, Gorgijevska had 16 digs to lead the Bulldogs. At the net, Hermann had two solo blocks to lead all Bulldogs in the match.

The Lakers got seven kills from Kaitlyn Bishop. Emily Kalinowski led LSSU with 13 assists.

Ferris State returns home Friday (March 5) for a 5 p.m. (ET) date with the Ashland Eagles inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.
