#7 Ferris State Earns Decisive Road Victory Over Warriors In Detroit

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally seventh-ranked Ferris State University women's basketball squad controlled play and came away with a decisive 80-46 victory on Thursday (Jan. 25) evening against the Wayne State University Warriors in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at the WSU Fieldhouse in Detroit.

FSU built a 17-7 lead after the opening period of action and outscored WSU 20-10 in the second frame to grab a 37-17 lead at the halftime break. Ferris State opened the second half with a 17-0 run and held a 63-32 edge moving into the final quarter of the league contest. The Bulldogs eventually won the final period 17-14 to account for the final margin.

Senior center Chloe Idoni netted 10 first-half points for FSU. The Bulldogs outscored Wayne State 23-2 in points off turnovers in the opening 20 minutes as Wayne State finished the first half with 15 miscues.

Idoni finished with a team-high 18 points in the Bulldog victory while Emma Schierbeek added 10 points off the bench. A total of 12 of FSU's 13 players who saw action scored in the win.

Ferris State improved to 13-2 overall this season with the triumph and held onto a share of first place in the GLIAC, moving to 7-1 in conference play.

The Bulldogs outscored Wayne State 31-9 off turnovers as WSU netted 20 in the game. FSU also outrebounded the Warriors 45-23 with 18 offensive boards, leading to a 19-8 margin in second chance scoring.

Overall, the Bulldogs shot 47.5% from the floor and went 10-of-23 (43.5%) from long range along with 14-of-25 (56.0%) at the free throw line. WSU shot 38% fom the floor and was only four-of-18 (22.2%) beyond the arc in addition to four-of-eight (50%) at the stripe.

The Warriors were led by Shea Tripp with 10 points.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 27) as they square off against Saginaw Valley State starting at 1 p.m. (ET) in Univeristy Center.
