Ferris State Soccer Posts Shutout Road Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer squad opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road action with a convincing 4-0 triumph over Purdue Northwest on Friday (Oct. 7) in Hammond, Ind.

The Bulldogs tallied three first-half goals en route to the win, moving to 6-3-3 overall with their second consecutive win. FSU is also now 4-1-3 in conference play.

Senior Isabella Zamborini scored two first-half goals for the Bulldogs, including the initial marker of the contest only 4:11 into it off an assist from fellow senior Nikki May.

Following Zamborini's initial goal, FSU's Payton Price converted to push the margin to 2-0 in the 10th minute with an assist credited to midfielder Katie Nestico.

Zamborini closed the first-half scoring with her second tally in unassisted fashion at 30:21 of the opening half. It was her team-leading eighth goal of the campaign.

In the second half, the Bulldogs tacked on another goal with Nicole Oelker scoring her first of the year from an assist by Lindsay Cole at 76:02 of the contest.

Ferris State owned a 10-3 edge in total shots for the afternoon, including a 9-2 margin in shots on goal. FSU also had three corner kick opportunities to two for the Pride.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs' got a shutout performance in goal from Lauren Kubacki, who stopped two shots in 76:43 of work. Haley Golembiewski went 13:17 in net, but did not face a shot.

Purdue Northwest's Ashley Lovins suffered the loss in net with two saves and three goals allowed in 45:30 of work. Bridget Grady made three saves and allowed a goal in 44;30 of action.

The Bulldogs will close out their trip on Sunday (Oct. 9) as they face Wisconsin-Parkside starting at 12 p.m. (ET) in Kenosha, Wis.
