Ferris State Volleyball Starts Upper Peninsula Trip With Sweep At NMU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad opened up a three-match swing in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a convincing 3-0 sweep over Northern Michigan on Friday (Sept. 29) night in Marquette.

The Bulldogs remained unbeaten in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play by winning the first of three weekend outings across the Mackinaw Bridge, taking a 25-12, 25-15, 25-17 win.

With the triumph, the Bulldogs improved to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in league play.

The Bulldogs' Emma Bleecher tallied a match-high 12 kills while adding 12 digs in the FSU triumph. Additionally, Olivia Henneman-Dallape contributed 10 kills and Chelsie Freeman finished with eight overall.

Ferris State's Kaylee Maat notched 35 assists and eight digs in the win while Leah Bylut totaled 15 digs and Claire Nowicki added 11 digs. Syann Fairfield posted a match-high five service aces for the Bulldogs.

FSU finished with a .267 hitting figure and the Bulldogs totaled 40 kills with only 12 attack errors in the contest. The Bulldogs had 60 digs and came away with 13 service aces to none for the Wildcats.

Overall, Ferris State limited NMU to a .131 attack percentage and the Wildcats posted 27 kills with 13 attack mistakes and 45 digs.

The Bulldogs will next visit Michigan Tech on Saturday (Sept. 30) for a 4 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Houghton.
