Huge Third Quarter Lifts #10 Ferris State To Road Victory Over Davenport

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's 10th-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs used a huge third quarter to seize control and come away with an 84-63 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over Davenport on Saturday (Feb. 24) in Caledonia.

The Bulldogs led by three points at halftime against the upset-minded Panthers, but tallied a 21-5 edge in the third period to pull away for the win.

Senior Chloe Idoni totaled a game-high 25 points for the Bulldogs while senior guard Mallory McCartney added 19 points and seven assists in the win. FSU also got 13 points from Kenzie Bowers and 12 by Kadyn Blanchard en route to the victory.

Ferris State forced 16 turnovers in the win and had only eight of its own, leading to a 20-7 margin in points off turnovers overall. FSU also out rebounded Davenport 41-34 and the Bulldogs pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Overall, Ferris State shot 44.8% from the floor and went seven-of-26 (26.9%) from the three-point arc. The Bulldogs sank 25-of-31 (80.6%) free throws.

Defensively, FSU limited DU to 42.4% shooting, including only a two-of-12 (16.7%) effort in the third period. The Panthers finished six-of-25 (24.0%) from long range and seven-of-13 (53.8%) at the charity stripe.

Davenport was paced by Ellie Toney with 14 points and Lillee Gustafson along with Makenna Bryant, who each netted 10 points in the setback.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 19-4 overall this year and 13-3 in conference play.

Ferris State returns home to close out the regular-season next week inside Jim Wink Arena against Parkside on Thursday (Feb. 29) and Purdue Northwest on Saturday (March 2). Thursday's tilt versus the Rangers tips off at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
