Ferris State Battles To Finish In GLIAC Tourney Semifinal Setback

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad battled to the finish, but dropped a 68-57 decision to Michigan Tech in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals.

The Bulldogs held the lead at halftime before the Huskies rallied back to win the game and advance to the league tournament title game.

Ferris State closed the year with a 17-12 overall record.

FSU jumped out to a 15-11 first quarter lead and pushed the margin to 27-20 at halftime. However, MTU outscored the Bulldogs 22-11 in the third frame and 26-19 in the fourth to rally for the win.

Senior forward Chloe Idoni paced the Bulldogs with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double showing. Meanwhile, Kenzie Bowers added 13 points and 11 boards while Elle Irwin chipped in with 11 points for Ferris State.

The Huskies were led by Sara Dax's team-high 14 points. Elle Mackay added 13 points and Isabella Lenz scored 10 for MTU.

Michigan Tech finished with a 40.4% shooting figure and the Huskies went eight-of-21 (38.1%) from long range and 14-of-18 (77.8%) at the free throw line. MTU also owned a 41-39 rebounding margin.

Ferris State shot 32.2% from the field and connected on seven-of-30 (23.3%) three's along with 12-of-16 (75%) free throws.

The Bulldogs had knocked off third-seeded Parkside on the road in the quarterfinal round to reach the semifinals for the second-straight year.

The entire Bulldog roster is eligible to return next season.
