Ferris State Tennis Teams Fall In First Regional Action To Ranked UIndy Teams

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams opened spring regional action on Sunday (Feb. 4), dropping a pair of contests to longtime regional rival Indianapolis at the UIndy Tennis Center.

The nationally 12th-ranked Indianapolis women's team claimed a 7-0 win over FSU while the men's match pitted a pair of the nation's top 20 teams with the seventh-ranked Greyhounds beating the 18th-ranked Bulldogs by a 6-1 count.

In the women's contest, UIndy won two of the three doubles flights to grab the initial point and the Greyhounds then came away with all six singles flights.

Meanwhile, in the men's outing, Indianapolis took the doubles point and won five of the six singles flights overall. FSU's Esunge Ndumbe garnered a three-set win for the Bulldogs at three singles. Three of the six matches in singles play went to third sets.

Both Ferris State teams will return to the court with another regional matchup for both squads on Friday (Feb. 9) against Findlay in Ohio.
