Ferris State Women's Basketball Knocks Off Parkside To Advance To GLIAC Semifinals

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad stormed into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals as the Bulldogs knocked off third-seeded Parkside 72-64 on Wednesday (March 1) evening in the quarterfinal round at DeSimone Gymnasium in Kenosha, Wis.

The Bulldogs, who were seeded sixth overall, came away with the road win to move into the semifinals. The defending league tournament champions will face second-seeded Michigan Tech in the semifinals on Saturday (March 4) at 4:30 p.m. (ET) in Allendale with the title game set for Sunday (March 5).

In Wednesday's quarterfinal, the two teams played virtually even the entire first half with the host Rangers owning a one-point edge at the break. Parkside jumped the advantage to five points after three quarters, but the Bulldogs outscored UWP 27-14 in the final quarter to garner the win.

Senior standout Chloe Idoni tallied 27 points for the Bulldogs in the victory and added nine rebounds for FSU. Meanwhile, sophomore Kenzie Bowers chipped in with 20 points and 13 rebounds in an impressive double-double effort while senior guard Mallory McCartney netted 14 points in the win.

The Bulldogs shot 48.1% from the floor and went seven-of-18 (38.9%) from long range along with 13-of-19 (68.4%) at the free throw stripe.

Defensively, Ferris State held Parkside to 36.8% shooting with the Rangers finishing five-of-23 (21.7%) from long range and 17-of-23 (73.9%) at the free throw line.

The Bulldogs posted a 39-31 rebounding margin and finished with 14 turnovers compared to 11 for Parkside.

Parkside was led by Alyssa Nelson's team-high 24 points. Both Grace Lomen and Kendal Zeiter added 10 points in the setback.

Ferris State improved to 17-11 overall this year with the win and avenged a pair of regular-season setbacks to Parkside.
