#13 Ferris State Holds On Down The Stretch For Road Win At Wayne State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's 13th-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs built a double-digit lead and held on down the stretch for a 79-75 road win over Wayne State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Thursday (Jan. 25) night at the WSU Fieldhouse in Detroit.

The Bulldogs took a 39-29 halftime lead and pushed the margin to 17 points at 57-40 in the second half, but Wayne State trimmed it back down to three at 66-63 with 3:09 to play in the game. FSU got three big offensive baskets late from senior Ben Davidson to keep the advantage, but the Warriors again cut the lead down to three with 26 seconds left. Ferris State eventually got single free throws from both Davidson and fellow graduate senior Dolapo Olayinka down the stretch to keep it at a two possession game and seal the win.

Both Davidson and Olayinka tallied 20 points each for Ferris State with senior DeSean Munson adding 18 points and senior Jack Ammerman finishing with 10 points.

FSU shot 46.7% from the floor and made five-of-13 (38.5%) three's along with 18-of-23 (78.3%) free throws.

Meanwhile, Wayne State had four players reach double-figures and was led by Tamario Adley with 15 points. The Warriors shot 39.3% overall, but made only four-of-24 (16.7%) three's along with 23-of-26 (88.5%) free throws.

Ferris State won the rebounding battle 37-36 and the Bulldogs outscored WSU 11- in points off turnovers. Wayne State did grab 12 offensive boards and owned a 12-8 margin in second chance scoring overall.

With the win, the Bulldogs are now 16-3 overall and improved to 6-2 in GLIAC play.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 27) as they square off against Saginaw Valley State starting at 3 p.m. (ET) in Univeristy Center.
